This is the Far Cry season and we hope you’re enjoying your time drowning yourself into the insanity that is Far Cry 3. Not only is Far Cry 3 a perfect illustration of how an open-ended FPS sandbox should be, it is a unique experience of hardcore FPS action, mixed with Role Playing elements. The game is certainly a landmark in the genre.
The Far Cry 3 Island Map Editor is finally available for you map freaks and game designers, for free! Offering a wide array of tools, buildings, weather, and landscapres, you can create your own dream island the way you want to. Also, considering the scope of freedom of design the Dunia 2.0 engine offers, the possibilities are limitless with the Map Editor.
To see what other things the map editor can do, check out the video below detailing its features.
Steps to activate Far Cry 3 Map Editor
Open up Windows Explorer and visit the directory in which you have Far Cry 3 installed. If you installed in the default location, this would probably be:
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Far Cry 3\bin
If you installed Far Cry 3 through Steam, this is the location you have to go to:
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Far Cry 3\bin
If you don’t know the location of your Far Cry 3 installed files, just right click on the Far Cry 3 shortcut icon and click on “Open File Location” which should get you there.
Once you’re in the Bin directory, look for a file called FC3Editor. Double click on this file and you’re set. Enjoy. Don’t get lost in the jungle though.
Do share with us the maps you’ve created. If we like them, we’ll do a post on it.
